The inscription is the perfect embodiment of Munson’s gruff personality. The leather of this baseball is off white with some vintage toning to be expected on a ball of this vintage. The stitches are bright red and fully intact. The stunning death of legendary Yankees catcher Thurman Munson in a plane crash on August 2, 1979, still resonates in the hobby all these years later with Munson baseballs selling for record prices because of a short supply of high-end single-signed examples.
