The photograph, taken on August 9th, 1863 is the first of the President by famed photographer Alexander Gardner in his Washington DC studio. The condition of the Carte De Viste is excellent with clean edges, corners and undisturbed surfaces. The appearance of the picture is sharp and shows a strong dark to light gradient within the image.
